For each Lesson in Module 2, reflect on how you would teach this in your class, focusing on one of the following components of the lesson (choose a different component for each lesson/reflection in this Module).

  • Lesson Objectives
  • Teaching Summary (do activities or estimated times need to be changed?)
  • Suggested Assessment Questions
  • Standards

The assessment questions were all relevant to the lesson, but I would focus on #1 and 3. Because I want to make sure the students understand what their experiment is evaluating and why. Also, the students should be more proficient at coding in StarLogo Nova and creating more complex code.

This activity is perfectly aligned to the NGSS Performance Expectations in that the scholars are directly manipulating the model to explore the impacts of increased CO2 emissions. In the process, they are also asking questions about why and how this is happening.

NGSS Performance Expectations Earth and Human Activity MS-ESS3-4. Construct an argument supported by evidence for how increases in human population and per-capita consumption of natural resources impact Earth’s systems. MS-ESS3-5. Ask questions to clarify evidence of the factors that have caused the rise in global temperatures over the past century.
