Coding Challenges
The link below will take you to a google doc that contains printable copies of 6 specific sets of coding challenges, that are organized as follows:
Set 1- Math Concepts- Left/Right degrees & Heading
Set 2- Math Concepts- X & Y Coordinates and Random
Set 3- Math Concepts- Heading, Absolute Value & Percent Chance with conditionals
Set 4 - CS Concept- adding color to terrain and repeat loops
Set 5- Math Concepts- Z coordinate (Altitude and 3-D view)
What are the chances?
The instructions for this activity show a horizontal slider like the one used in Starlogo Nova. This slider allows the user to adjust the button to any number between 0 and 100. Often sliders are used to set an original number of agents or a population at the beginning of a program in setup. When programming an agent-based model, it is often necessary to have randomness and a percent chance that something might happen. For instance, if turtle collides with another turtle, there is a ‘percent chance’ that it will turn orange.

Math Challenges in StarLogo TNG
Challenges in applying math basics to StarLogo TNG:
In each challenge, you should use StarLogo TNG as a 2D environment (use the swap view button in SpaceLand). First, create the required number of turtles and when you hit set-up, have the turtles appear in SpaceLand where the challenge specifies. For # 4 and 5, the turtles also need to move according to the directions, when you hit the forever button. It is easier to see the turtles in SpaceLand if you set their size to 3 in setup.
