New and Need Guidance

Posted October 21, 2019 by kellylu62

I have just discovered this and am excited to implement it in my Science Enrichment Class.  I can see that there is a great deal of information and I am not sure where to start.

I downloaded the Modules from code.org, but I am not sure where to find the "Materials Needed for This Module."

I have also seen the that there is curriculum with Project GUTS, but I cannot find a specific place to look and see what I need to do - step by step.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kelly, and welcome to Teachers with GUTS!  For some general introduction, click the New to GUTS box on the right side of the home page.  To get going on Module 1, here's how to find it:  On the Resources tab at the top of the home page, scroll down to see a list of resources, and on the left side under Resource Type, find and click on GUTS Curriculum Modules.  Scroll down to CS in Science Module 1 (and be sure you are looking at materials for StarLogo Nova 2.0 rather than the archived module for the older version).  Once you have clicked on Module 1, scroll (yes, again) down to the links - you will see a link to the curriculum (which you may have from the Code.org page, but you might want to download this as it might be a later version).  There are also links to a slide presentation to show to students, a page showing the Code Blocks that are used, some "Progress Monitors" and a link to the StarLogo Nova 2.0 gallery with starter models and examples of finished models.  Once you are somewhat familiar with the site, it is easy to search by keyword using the search bar, but be sure to use the drop-down arrow to limit your search to just resources.  Please let us know if you have other questions as you are getting started, and happy coding!
